Make sure they are clean and tight and use a little dielectric grease to eliminate/retard corrosion.
There is enough good in the worst of us and enough bad in the best of us that it does not behoove any of us to criticize the rest of us.

Now, if you add in a/c, a 1 megawatt stereo  , and all the other goodies, I would go with no less than gauge 0. With most setups, a 6 or 8 gauge wire will be big enough.
