For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 177 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 177 | I just bought a 48 1 Ton with a stock Inline 6. The engine starts right up once you hit the starter pedal (12v) and it will idle with no problem (upwards of 15 minutes before I shut it off). What type of up keep do I need to perform to keep it running well? A full engine rebuild is in the future, but right now I want to have the opportunity to drive around a little while the weather is nice. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | The shop manual will give you what you need to do to maintain it. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 283 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 283 | Oil change and grease job, clean the air filter, check all the lubes, fresh clean coolant and get used to the characteristics of the vehicle--it will tell you what you need to do. Study the things needed to keep it in tune and if it aint broke don't fix it.
