For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 231 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 231 | Ok, stupid question time. I took off my headlightbezels today to replace rusty screws with stainless ones. I noticed that the bottom ones (screws) were missing. I attempted to screw the same sized ones in the bottom to no avail. The clip that the screw goes into appears to be different than the other two. The top clips appear to be two sided and the bottom ones appear to be one sided, or broken.I'm thinking they are broken and the previous owner removed them for paint and failed to replace them. If they are broken is there a scource for them? I am stumped, anyone else run into this? If it is a different size, any know what it is? PS I am not a mechanic, just a guy who loves my truck! Or are the ones on the bottom different? Are they on other years? I actually scored a set today (and a whole new grill) off Craigslist here today if you can believe that! They are different in that the bottom ones are narrower although the side ones would work on the bottom. Thank everyone for your help and advice. Sometimes when messing with these old trucks you feel like you are out there alone. Not here though! Heck, NAPA dosen't even stock thr Rochester carb for my truck any more. I did get the rebuild kit there though and was able to rebuild it for about Sixteen bucks, as opposed to two hundred for the reman ones I saw elsewhere. Again guys, thanks a squillion. The three screws & J-clips, that secure the headlight bezel, to the grille shell, are all the same size, as well.
