I have no backup lights, and I am assuming that it is because the shifter was moved from the column to the floor. I assume that this also means that the transmission isn't original.
So, is there a universal part that I can install? Or do I need to find something specific to the transmission? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | Sometime in the late 50s I believe, there was an optional switch that mounted on the shifter tower to control a backup light. I have seen it but can't remember the details. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | yes, there's a back up light switch 'kit' as nix says - you might be able to find something 'generic' at a parts store, or try a post in the Parts Wanted or keep an eye on e-bay, they come up occasionally - consists of a mount for the switch and a tab on the lever that depresses the switch when you move to reverse
