Hi all, I have a 55 lcf in decent shape and I was walking a salvage yard awhile ago and there was a big back window cab there with the glass in it and I wondered if the rear is the same as the lcf cab. Could i cut the good portion with the big back glass in it out and put in/on my cab? are they the same body lines etc? Not something at the top of the list, just would be cool if it could work and look factory.

Yes, the 55-59 LCF cabs share the same rear window panel as the conventional cabs. LCF's were available with big back windows. The BBW replacement panel is also available new from many of the vendors.

that is what i was hoping to hear. I will have to see what it will take to get the donor cab, I may consider a small extension while I am at it, 9" or less, not enough to try to put a window in, but to make it a bit more comfy with the big IH 9L V8 going in it.

thanks,

jason

9" would make a huge difference in comfort. The regual cabs are tight but the LCF cabs are even worse.

Back in high school my best friends dad did this to his 59 pu, i think it was 8 or 9". it looked great.
I am thinking about how it will be to drive as it is supposed to be a work truck, backing up to trailers, picking up stuff, just general using it everyday and that small back glass has me thinking that it won't be much fun. I also think that the engine is going to take up so much room that i may have to set back 9" just to have both feet next to each other. If i can get that big glass cab, it may just have to happen.
I am in the middle of buying a shop that i will be able to get the big bolts in, so once i get all settled there i will probably get to the 55.
