Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 204 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 204 | its raining in new york and i wanted to go for a ride in my truck but the wipers no longer work. i know they worked a few weeks ago before i sent the carb out for a rebuild. the truck runs perfectly but when i turn the knob for the wipers all i get is a hissing sound and a slight increase in idle. how do i trouble shoot this? thank you | | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 554 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 554 | Start by replacing the rubber hose that runs to the wiper motor. You can possibly check to see if it is a problem by trimming both ends of the existing hose and reconnecting them. However chances are the hose is to old and hard to make a good seal.

I would move the wipers to mid stroke and then start the motor to see if they return to park. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 212 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 212 | I had the same problem with mine on my 58.Tried all of the do it yourself hints and suggestions new gaskets, transmission fluid and everything else. When all was said and done I still had no wipers , just that hissing noise.Sent it to the wiper man there in New York and they work just as good as new. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 835 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 835 | Yeah, the Wiperman can fix you right up. I also added the dual action fuel/vacuum pump to my burb. Now I even have wipers when I go up hill.
