I have the heater core at the radiator shop to fix a leak, and thought it would be a good time to change and be rid of the resistor since I'll also be doing a complete re-wire. I seem to recall something about a mid 60's VW blower motor which could be adapted? Anybody done this or remember? TIA | | |

There is no problem so great that it cannot be solved by the application of thought, elbow grease and copious amounts of CASH.

Just finished assembly with the new motor and as promised did not have to change holes in the radiator. I used a piece of scrap masonite so the motor would fit flat against its mount in the heater radiator, but other than that, the change out was simply nuts and bolts stuff! Hurray! The only remaining question is whether or not I can use the 6 volt resistor switch which gave it two speeds or if I need to get a 12 volt model of such a device. Do you know? Thought I'd give it a try at the risk of burning up the switch. What do you think? | | |

I remember when I swapped mine out, I was working at a motorhome dealership and I got a motor out of a **** van chassis heater that was physically identical only 12V. The two speed switch under the dash worked perfect for it.  | | |

Grainger here, (Aurora, IL) will only sell to you if you have a commercial account with them or a tax number. NO retail sales. The rest of you ever run into this with them???

But i didn't have problems telephone order. Look for a electric motor service, they can hook you up also.

Sanddwich, IL Yes, ours here is the same way. I asked them about it and they said it is because they are technically a wholesale outfit, not retail. Must have something to do with the tax laws I suppose. | | |
