So, I have a door window with a frame on the drivers side and one with out a frame on the passenger side on my 61 1/2 ton SB step, which is correct?

The medium-duty & heavy-duty trucks from '60-'63, commonly had the metal frame. On occassion, we find a light-duty truck with a window glass with the frame, as well. Some frames are painted black and some are chrome, so it can have glass with or without a frame...it is a matter of preference.

All of the 1961 trucks that I have owned/own (4 total)have had the window frames. 3 were Chevrolets and one was a GMC. One was a one ton Chevy series 30. And the others were all half tons. I have looked at many 60-63 trucks over the years and honestly can't remember one that did NOT have the window frames. I do realize that it was "optional" to not have the frames, I just can't recall seeing one without them. (my use of the word optional is meant as "possible", not as an RPO)

We have shelled alot of '60-'63 Chevy & GMC doors and seen many with and many without, so I am not sure the driving factor on whether the door glass had frames or not. I am interested in knowing the reason, as well.

Maybe the Trim Level? Maybe pre early '63-post late '63?

My 1961 1/2 ton Apache 10 had black window frames and it was a custom cab truck from California. Maybe is was an assembly plant thing. Different assembly plants might of had different supplier sources.
