What is the easiest and best pcv valve install to replace the draft tube on my 228 gmc engine? | | | | Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 181 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 181 | If you do look up the Smog system requirements they weren't enacted until long after the 228-248-270-302's were built. But later in my state we started to have to add and modify a system on our older engines. Why not try a good Parts House and ask them if a kit is available and then ask this question. I had a dual quad Chev 283 and the required Smog add-on really caused me some problems. I used one off a '59 on my 248 and it has a paper air filter. Earlier '50s ones were oil bath. pic1 pic2 | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 44 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 44 | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 | in addition to what cletis said, you will also need the valve cover, oil fill/breather pipe to replace draft tube, pvc pipe and the vacuum manifold that screws into the intake manifold plus the pvc valve to make it look oringinal. i got one from a 46 350 (two ton) and put it on my 40's 270. | | |
