The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop toe pan hush mat?

I cleaned up aand painted a '53 cab to replace the one that was damaged when the Blue Funk was hit by a Semi last year.

I had to scrape off a thick black substance from the toe pan area in order to clean and paint it.

I've looked through some parts catalogs and the closest thing I came up with was in Jim Carter's called a Hush Mat that you can peel and stick.

Would this be what I need in order to replace what was there?

If so, I figure I only need about four square feet of it, and the smallest amount Jim Carter sells it in is ten square feet.

Can this item be purchased at a FLAPS?

I put "Hush Mat" into my Search Engine and came up with this Starter Kit which is four square feet at a reasonable price.

I have read post of some members going to lowes or home depot and usinging peel & seal

I have not used it,so I can't give you a review
but you can look into it maybe save a little coin.

I used a roll of the reflectix (4x50) and a roll of foil tape and had enough to double up the floor, firewall, back wall and roof, plus a layer in each door.
After dealing with paint flaking off the tar in the fender wells until I finally had to blast it, I'm not sure the next guy will like the idea when he starts removing it from the cab next time around.

I ended up picking up some Evercoat Q-Pads from my FLAPS. They were about $30 for Foot Squares that came in a package of eight pads. They will do the same amount of area as what was originally on the toe pan and firewall with some left over.
