I purchased a spare 261 from a very distinguished member of this site and it has been sitting in my garage for a while. After cleaning the sludge off the engine I found the original yellow paint so I have named it OLD YELLER. Over this summer I have collected parts needed to make this engine run. I purchased two pushrods from AutoZone ($3 each), new filter from NAPA (#1143) and took the starter apart and cleaned it up and made it work again.

Last night I decided to remove the oil pan to inspect the lower end of the motor and also to clean any sludge, nests, and anything else that was in the bottom of the oil pan. Much to my surprise, everything looked pretty good! Now I have reinstalled it and will be putting things together to fire it!!

Here are the pics of last nights progress.

I believe it is a 1959 block, like my current 261
