Dear friends,
This year in my country I have to install a backup light about the latest requirements for all vehicules. I bought one from the fiftyes. It looks beatiful, but, as you know this kind of lights were not used in this trucks.
If you see my truck, what do you going to think about it?
I love the idea of original look. http://www.flickr.com/photos/12130970@N05/7676974994/in/photostream
thanks,
Alfonso

Your Light is pretty cool

I found one of these on ebay
...pic... its a Guide B-31
bolts to the rear bumper bracket.
I have used it a few times, adding a back up light is a good idea.

If it does interfere with the tailgate you could always swing it sideways so the lamp is positioned under the tail light.

Separate switch under dash. Lighted preferred so you don't leave it on by mistake.

DADS50, the switch with light is a good idea. Do you Know the brand/source/part-number.

People have posted information about a back-up switch on an SM420 4-speed transmission, but unless you gave the right years the case has to be drilled (and the switch has to be found). I am going to try to use a Powerglide back-lights switch with my 54 Hydra-Matic. Otherwise, I'll use a switch like yours.

Will that work on a truck, Tim? It shows instructions for 3-speed manual and Powerglide passenger cars. Maybe someone here has used this on a 3-speed truck?

I don't know if it would work on a truck but the backup light for the car version of that tail light is made for that style housing.

<CLICK>

This is the light from Chevs of the 40s.

Tim, I use a lighted fog light switch for my back up light just in case you have an extra stuck back in your archives somewhere.

Thanks, Tiny

The B-31 Guide lamps that I have bolt into a hole I would have to drill in the tail lamp housing. The set you show might be easier to install.

Thanks or the links to the switches. I think that repo parts vendors sell that but they do not make it clear that it is lighted?

Advance Auto sells that switch for about $8.50
