good morning, all. time to get down to business with our newly acquired '58. three questions to start:
is there a source for original type keys who can cut them from the factory number?
where do both ends of the clutch return spring attach?
did the 58 half tons have Borg-Warner OD as a factory option?
ok, four questions- what's the most useful service/repair manual for this truck?
thanks......

In the future please limit your questions to one per thread and post them in the proper forum. Your clutch and transmission questions should go in the driveline forum.

Original type keys are available on Ebay. Any locksmith with a 1935-66 GM code book can cut them.

For service and repair manuals I like to have the factory service manual and a Motors Truck Repair Manual. Before starting an operation I read through both. The factory manual was written by tech writers and they refer to the special factory tools needed; the Motors Manuals were written by mechanics who have done the job and offer some tips and shortcuts.

hmmmm......so many forums....will take the clutch/OD questions where they belong......

back to the KEY question:
there are Ford and MoPar key guys out there who can supply original pattern keys by number.
looking for the GM equivalent- so I can just email him and say "I need 2 keys #8518" and he will shoot them out to me.
is there a one-stop-shopping supplier like that anywhere?
