I just got the back glass installed on my '53 3100. No cracks this time. If I knew you guys were comfortable with explicit language I'd describe how difficult this has been.

Removed the gas tank, ordered up a por-15 kit for it. Removed one of the carbs, cleaned up and resealed it.

Usually that job is finished up with a cold brew...or several cold brews.

Since I had broken the passenger windshield the day before, and could tear up an anvil in a sand pile, I was happy to get the back glass in. Though during the installation I prayed, cussed, threw tools, even had to walk away and watch Andy Griffith for a while.

Body bolts removed from Panel - ready to prop up on stands for work on frame... Engine & tranny out of donor vehicle...

Just about finished with the stereo.

What did I get done? ...I dun got towed. Twice in two days but it was a blast driving her while it lasted. Wrenching was fun too, as always. Got a full day of it lined up for tomorrow.

I thought the illegal test drives in your photo album looked like fun, driving that chassis down the street.

Cleaned out 15year old oil in the pan. It looked like snot water. Disassembled the carb and cleaned throughly.

"Snot water." That's a very good word picture.

I installed my tie rod and modern ends. Removed the balls from the steering arms. I took a different route than most. I cut the ball off the arm and then ground the ball end down, thinking the other end was swedged at the factory. I then pressed the balls out from the ball end and they came out easily. No drilling, or even grinding into my arms. I am not sure if that makes sense or not. Pictures in my bucket.

On my 65 1/2T stepside: Counting yesterday and today, removed the gas tank and cleaned the entire fuel system. Reinstalled the tank and fuel lines, gapped the plugs and adjusted the timing by ear, but need to get a light on it soon. Gonna restore the gas tank sometime soon using a kit that removes rust and seals it.

My 12 yr old son and I pulled the 216 out of the truck. Big step in 3-4 year project. Going to replace 3-speed with T5 trans but keeping the foot starter so going to use original bellhousing. Did a quick fit of T5 pressure plate off a Camaro T5 but holes a bit off. plenty of time to solve that one.

Saturday I got the front brakes and bearings back together, inspected the rears and figured out I need shoes, hub seals and wheel cylinders. Put her back on the ground with the new steel wheels and fresh tires from craigslist I picked up first thing in the morning. Today I cleaned out carburator #2, flushed out the fuel lines and started the POR-15 process inside the gas tank. Just gotta wait for the tank to be super dry and this week hopefully I can pour in the sealer.

Change front tires, mounted new 9.00x20 tires on GMC 454-30, cleaned rims and painted them.

Matched-up rear tires/wheels and remounted them, put new tires on front rims. 6.5x20 Motor Wheel rims.

Yesterday, I bought another complete 52-53 GMC 454-30 for parts donor truck.

Figured out why she left me stranded twice ... don't add lead additive and marvel to a half empty tank. I figured it'd be ok if I added it and drove to the gas station. Both times I only made it around a mile. She ran fine around town till it all mixed. Got a 5gal can, filled her up and she ran fine.
Also took the opportunity to replace a hacked off carb stud so I could get the proper spacer under the carburetor.

On Saturday I finally got the exterior visor painted and installed.

On the bright side the visor looks great!

Fitted the front fender beading in place,got the hood fitting a little better,still not 100% yet,kinda tricky on your own.

I'm still chasing an air leak in the front suspension RH airbag,I think it's at the top of the bag which means stripping the front right hub assembly apart again.......bwaaaah!

My 16 year old Daughter and I re-wired the tail/brake lights. She soldered all the connections and incased the wires in braided metal loom..

Went out to the garage, tools in hand. Then the 105 degree heat hit me square in the face. I then retreated back to my air-conditioned man cave for the rest of the day. A smart man knows when to sit back down.

Remounted headlight buckets with new gaskets and wire pig tails, already had 12v headlights. Finished tightening all the lug nuts for new tires and remounted rims.

Need to finish new wiring, got a job for truck hauling fire wood and logs for a tree cutter.

My trucks have to earn their way.;)

added a rear "dome light" at the rear of my panel. Use a LED with an off on switch. Works nice.....after I replace a blown fuse where I let the wire ground out!!

Also painted the Impala steering wheel I'm going to use. Will put the clear coat on it tomorrow.

cleaned my truck for a show on saturday

Big Chevy, its a small tach and I mounted it under the dash where the E-Brake bracket is suppose to go. I installed and tiltedit up. Its out of the way and I can glance at it anytime I need to. I'm leaving for Wilmington at noon tomorrow but will get a pic.....soon.
I plan to use the e-brake handle out of a dodge Colt and mount it on the right of the drivers bucket seat.

...Oh, and I sanded the '58 Impala steering wheel with some 2000 and reshot the color.....will clear coat tomorrow or saturday...or Monday. Got to go see father in law this weekend.
