The P terminal doesn't necessarily need a pilot light attached, it will flash with or without that one connected. 3-terminal flashers are hopelessly out of date. Just get a heavy-duty 2-pin flasher and it will flash up to 6 lights in parallel.

The wiring diagram that came with the turn signal unit showed a flasher with 3 prongs. How would I wire it with only a 2 prong flasher ... any tricks? This is a 7 wire turn signal unit 12 volt. | | |

If so, the wire that goes to the indicator gets wired to both sides of the output, with diodes to keep the signal from backing up to the opposite side than is selected. If you've got the arrow-shaped indicator lights on both sides of the dash, just wire them into the front turn signal circuit, so they don't come on with the brake lights. In that case, don't connect the bulb in the stalk to anything.

This is for the Chieftain 7 wire turn signals.
Yellow to left front turn signal.
Green to right front turn signal
Brown to right rear turn signal
Orange to left rear turn signal
There are two posts on the brake/stoplight switch. One is "hot". The other is not. Red wire from turn signal switch goes to the brake switch post that is not hot.
You should be left with a black and a blue wire. If your flasher is 2 pole, twist the black wire and blue wire together, and fasten both to the post marked "L".
If your flasher is three-pole, fasten the black wire to "L", the blue wire to to "P". Whether you have a 2 pole or 3 pole flasher, fasten your hot wire from the ignition to the flasher pole marked "X" | | |
