I've been unable to find a useful diagram of this in the "Factory Assembly Manual".
I've run the wire through the gap between the inner fender and radiator support frame but I don't think that this looks correct (see pictures below).
Would someone please describe or post pictures of the correct way to route this wire? Thanks!

What you show is where it is routed on a 1954 truck. The wire is held in place with two wire clips attached to holes in the inner fender (behind the grill).
Look at Section 12, Sheet 3.00 in the Factory Assemnly Manual (FAM). At the upper left of the drawing is the labelled Parking Lamp wire (violet). If you follow this wire down, you will see it goes through your "gap" to the right of the radiator support.
Section 12, Sheet 1.04 gives a poor depiction of the clips (451314) on the inner fender behind the grill. Does the inner fender on your '53 have holes on the inner fenders as shown for the '54 in the FAM?

There's no place for clips on the '53, but that's probably because the parking lamps are much higher than they were in '54. There's less than 12" of wire from the gap to the bulb housing.

fender. Mine is a GMC, but the wireing is very
similar. If you go the the 3rd page of my truck
build, I just put up a couple of close up pictures of the wireing on the inner fender.
