Well yeah... I sure as hell don't own one!

I'll take her for a cruise once I get all her fluids up to where they should be and see what she does... if the problem continues I'll come back to it and change it if need be...

I'm really not that worried about the trip there when it is cooler in the morning... it's the return trip with packed highways when it will be the hottest time of the day that I find a little scary... maybe I'll see if a neighbour can come in and let Gadget out for a pee in the afternoon... then we won't have to rush out of there till dinnertime and I might even be able to follow someone back through yarrow... hate to not know where I am two years in a row!

I am heading out around Noon, we'll be a bit late. I've got the 3.55 gears so the Highway is fine.
If you guys go through Abby at 11:00, that'll be a bit early for me.

Trev....if u need a hand changing the stat or tightening the fan belt, bring it over to my place on Saturday.

Hy Trev, you're checking everything else, why not the belt tension, it's not rocket science? Just a note to everyone, if your car starts to overheat in traffic, slip it into neutral, and raise the r.p.m. slightly, this increases the rate of coolant flow through the rad, and the engine fan speed as well. A stuck thermostat will just let the engine get hotter and hotter, the fact that the engine does cool back down says the thermostat is functioning. We could put a 160 degree thermostat in it and give you 20 degrees more wiggle room.

I'll see what the tension on the belt is when I top up the coolant later on Bobb... the only thing is I have no idea what the tension is supposed to be so I'd just be guessing...

Last night I topped up tranny fluid (which leaks when the car sits too long) and engine oil was fine so as soon as I check and top up the rad she should be good to go for a drive before dusk... It won't be the same as the 30 degrees we're supposed to get Sunday but hopefully I get an idea how hot she is gonna get anyway...

As for the 160 degree thermostat, sounds like a good idea for this old beast to keep her a bit cooler... I'll see how she acts when I have her out tonight and go from there.

Trev........I think we are around tonight....give me a call if you are heading this way. Bobb has a good point about the T Stat. If you want to pick up a 160* we can pop it in. ( Make sure it comes with a gasket ) Fan belt play should be around 1/2" on its' longest span

No worries Bruce... we'll try for tomorrow instead IF the car needs it... rather wait till I can get to Lordco and get one than take a chance on Ukrainian Tire and rushing around tonight...

Hey guys... just wanted to make sure we had all we would need for tomorrow...

Here's what we have so far...

Bobb: Chili,Nanaimo bars coffee
Bruce & Tammy: 2 Pies
Paul: coke, juice, bottled water, smokies and buns
Mikey: potato salad and a mixed greens salad
Trev: Triple Chocolate Brownies

No word from Dave or Boyd what they're bringing yet... anybody else bringing anything they want to add to this list?

It's looking a bit sparse so I think we'll also pick up a fruit or meat platter just to be safe... better to have too much food than not enough, right?

Oh and Dave, are you planning on picking up the picnic table in the morning on the way out? Let me know...

My kids are baking Chocolate Chip cookies as we speak. I could bring Watermelon??
A far as meat, we were just bringing a few dogs but can bring anything.

As for us, I have made the decision to leave the '55 at home... it's gonna be sweltering hot and since I am more than likely going to sell the '55 in the near future or do a swap plus cash deal for a hot rod, no sense putting hard miles on the '55 if I don't have to...

We'll be meeting up with you guys out at Bobb's and taking Celine's honda to get there...

Oh one last thing, in addition to the triple chocolate brownies we're also bringing a large fruit platter for everyone and a huge bag of Munchies...

See everyone at Bobb's tomorrow... remember to bring the bug spray... I'm hearing the mosquitoes are hungry out there!

Oh yeah.... bug spray. Bobb asked me to bring some pics and the dang printer is printing RED!. I'll just bring the laptop and leave it on slide show.

If the guys are leaving Langley around 10:15, probably closer to 11:30-45, Paul... they're taking the slow route...

Hy Guys, thank you everyone who came out to my pickanick (Alvin you missed a good one), I hope you all had a good time. I love to see the beautiful iron parked on my lawn, and to see everyone enjoying themselves (I hope). Hey I spent the afternoon in the blazing sun replacing the water pump on our daily ride( the 95 Cheyenne p/u). yesterday i replaced the rad and lower rad hose and i thought i had it beat but after borrowing my neighbours cooling system pressure tester this morning i could then see the coolant whizzing out of the relief hole.

sorry we had to cancel but i didn't want to take the chance with the h20 pump and a 3 hr round trip as i still had a large puddle under the truck again this morning.

That's the only reason we didn't make it!

guess what we had for dinner? lots of salad!

You have the worst luck on picnic days... the fan belt 2 years ago, the fan belt last year and now this... I'm thinking we should choose a different day next year...

Hi, Bobb, I had a good time, enjoyed the tour but at the end the heat got to me, but on the plus side the 49 was not bothered by the heat at all. I drove back to Port Coquitlam at 50 to 60 MPH (Patricks 3:55 gears) no problem, Temp very steady at 180, Oil pressure steady at 13-14 PSI ( Note: I am trying Mercruiser 25/40 oil this year).
