| | | | Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 19 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 19 | It wasn't pumping. Took it apart, cleaned, and reassembled. Put Marvel Mystery oil in inlet side. Pushed on lever and oil sucked in, but oozed back out. Loosened all 6 screws a little and it worked normal when I repeated the process. Tightened screws and it doesn't work. Loosened screws again and it works. When I took the pump loose from the engine, the lever didn't have full throw and when I pushed it in, it took several seconds for the lever to return back out. Is one of those little check valves messed up? Which one? Jim

The diaphragm is probably bad, the spring should be replaced. And the inside of it should be cleaned out properly. Unless you really want to keep the original pump you can probably go to NAPA and buy a replacement cheaper than messing with yours. Don | | |
