The generator was working fine until I adjusted the belt that was squelling. I still have about 3/4 inch of slack in the belt, and it still squells when I rev it up.
I checked the voltage at voltage regulator and I see the battery voltage and nothing else.

try a new belt and tighten it up, that seems like a lot of slack but I always adjust them to my feel,some slack but not bone tight
might also be gen squeaking but that would be easy test by taking belt off and listening

I check the gap and they seem off, I did check the output of the generator again and it seems to increase in voltage after a minutes.
I did remove the leads and cleaned them.
Should I see movement in the amp guage?
What is the proper way to adjust the gap?
