Where are the numbers located on '53 gmc engine? The numbers behind the distributor are obscured so that I cannot see them. Are there any someplace else? Thank you

That's the only place you will find the engine serial number. There are casting numbers on the head and block that can tell you what year they were cast, but the engine serial number can only be found on the flat behind the distributor.

The 228 refers to the engine CID in case your not aware. The S/N follows that info.
