on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,636 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,636 | Helping with a 1950 Chevy pkup and today we put the hood back on the truck. New hood hinges as well as the springs.
The hood where it meets the cowling wants to stand up about 2 inches off the cowling rather than coming down as it is supposed to.
We played with this thing all afternoon and found that with the spring assemblies off the hood will lay down as it should and looks good. Put the springs back on and it will not lay down.
Is there a way to reduce the tension on the new assemblies or is there a trick to this I'm missing?

Thanks for the direction. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,636 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,636 | After three days of moaning and groaning and fussing my friend and I finally got the hood to shut right.
We finally decided that our problem involved the new hood hinge on the passenger side. We installed the old hing in place of the new one and after a few corrections the hood lays down nice and pretty.
Helped a lot to get the measurements for the fender braces and all.
But we also figured out the passenger side had been repaired at one time in the past is does not quite match the drivers side where the hood hinges go.
But it looks good now, and my friend is happy with it.
Thanks for the help. | | |
