Helping with a 1950 Chevy pkup and today we put the hood back on the truck. New hood hinges as well as the springs.

The hood where it meets the cowling wants to stand up about 2 inches off the cowling rather than coming down as it is supposed to.

We played with this thing all afternoon and found that with the spring assemblies off the hood will lay down as it should and looks good. Put the springs back on and it will not lay down.

Is there a way to reduce the tension on the new assemblies or is there a trick to this I'm missing?
