I am going to be painting the wheels on my '65 C20. I know that they should be black but does anyone have the code for the correct black? Thanks.

The GM Heritage Center info is a great resource. See Link. It's a free download.

The page about 1965 C10, C20 and C30 wheel colors has a short paragraph that says if your truck was a solid color or a black/off white two tone, then the wheels were black (you know that already). However, if the paint was two tone other than black, the wheels were the primary color.

The paint chip page says
BLACK
Option Numbers
Solid . . . 500
Two-Tone . . .530

I find it interesting that for the pages that list the color BLACK, that there is no chip on the page, just the paint code number. If you click on the paint chip page and zoom in, you will notice the number 500 to the left of where the chip should be and then 9000 where the actual chip would go. I guess nobody needed to see what color black was! LOL!

The printed page under the paint chip page gives 530 as the paint code for the 2-tone trucks and the basic color number as 9000.
