so I have a 53 burb with a 56 235 that I drive daily from denver to boulder, which is about a 80 mile round trip.

at first a few weeks ago I had to start pulling the choke to keep her running. then after a week of that she didnt wanna run at all.

I noticed the vacuum advance wasent pulling at all, so i swaped it with one that does. she idle'd for about 15 and i took her for a and she quit after two blocks. i took apart the rochester b rebuilt it with a kit. ran good, idle' 15 min, dies 2 blocks away...

I hooked a electric pump up to see if the pick up was clogged,but it seemed fine.. then I clean the brand new fuel pump and it was full of sediment from the tank, i guess i was supposed to have a sediment bowl there, i didnt just a filter before the carb, so i added one before the mech pump, seeme to run great, i though that had to be every thing, it was the clogged pump and the vac.adv. , but she died after cruisin for about 15 min. luckly i coasted home, and checked the pump again, it was clean, and she started up again and seemed to be fine..
is it the pump, tank? im lost now

Sounds like you might have floaters in the tank blocking the outlet.

the possibility might exist that you at least need to clean the tank. Personally if the tank is icky enough to need some sort of sealer or something I would get a new one, they aren't horribly expensive, (at least a pickup, I don't know about suburbans) but if you are relying on this vehicle, it would be a bargain. I fought mine for a while, I wish I gotten the new tank much earlier. Keep in mind the filler tube can provide you with a lot of rust in the system as well, the fuel pump with the glass bowl has a pretty fine screen in it, so you don't have to cut into your nice new fuel line to install a suction filter. Oh yeah, your story brings back lots of memories in boulder...

Does it show symptoms all the time? To the point, does it happen only when you have a quarter tank or less?

Don't over look the timing once you have the fuel system cleaned out.

I would say it's the tank as well. Can you put a temporary fuel tank(gas can)before the fuel pump and check to see if you get further than 2 blocks? just make sure you strap it in good. This will confirm it's the tank.

i did the timing when i did the vac ad. shes got gas, lol my gal put $30 in her that i haqve to drain out lol..

but now shes starving for air? even with the idle needle ALL the way in she was running..

Before SHe reved faster when I covered the air fiter intake, due to bad vac advance.. Now she dosent wanna run with the air filter on?

so i dropped the tank, cleaned out all the solid junk in side, which was about a soda cans worth..

she seems to be getting fuel now, but runs like shes flooding..

runs better when air cleaner taken off, wants to die with it on.

gas pedal stops half way down every other push or so. gonna take carb apart and mess with accel pump. i just put in a new one..

I havent changed the points gonna do that and the condenser. then what, a new coil if the points and condenser dont do it?
