Add a switch in the floor. Wire the starter so that when yhou press the switch in the floor it activates the starter. But it doesn't look or act much like the original floor starter.

You can mount this switch where the old starter mechanism came through the floor.

Seems to me that if the bellhousing you are using was set up to hold the foot starter mechanism, all you would have to do is put the foot starter back on, and use a 6v starter with switch as per original. Might need to change the flywheel or pinion gear of the starter to match. The 6 volt starter will work fine.

Alternatively, You could use the foot starter mechanism to hit or work a switch which will activated the starter solenoid. This should be pretty easy to do.

The 292 will not accept the 235/261 starter- - -the bellhousing and flywheel setup is totally different. You can fabricate a fake foot start that will resemble the original pedal inside the cab with a little ingeneuity- - -just make a spring-loaded pedal that brackets to the floor in the original position, and put a push button switch under it to activate the solenoid. If you use the original pedal and rubber boot, the difference won't be noticeable to anyone without opening the hood and looking for the mechanical linkage to the starter.

I just noticed you're using an automatic transmission. Be sure and incorporate a Park/Neutral safety switch in any starting system you design. It gets a little exciting when you fire it up in gear!

Thought I'd add to this old thread rather than create a new one. Here's what I came up with to have a foot starter with my 250/200-4R in my 57 3100. I used a foot starter switch for a tractor (Tractor Supply #0236643}. It will bolt to the floor and fit through the hole for the stock linkage. I built an adapter to allow me to attach the stock foot pedal to the switch.
Here's a pic of the parts.
And a pic of it assembled.

After installing the rubber boot over it, it should look nearly stock.
Comments welcomed.

regards,
Leon

Looking good! That's the starter switch that fits the Farmall Cub and several other early-1950's tractors that are still in use around my area.
