Just saw that mine was simply removed by previous owner while I was changing gaskets.

what is the actual effect by having it constantly open as it is today. The holes are just welded. And an open gasket between the manifolds.

You will experience "poor performance, particularly while the engine is warming up and driving at lower speeds" .

I have one!! I'll sell it to you CHEEP!! How about 20.00,since you need to cover shipping (from Iowa to Sweden?) I have a '55 261/w/235 head,but I'm POSITIVE the exhaust manifold is identical to yours. "I'm pullin for ya...We're all in this together" (Red Green)L.O.L.

If you have the means to give it a try why don't you fabricate a new heat riser to replace the missing one? If you re-drill the holes that were welded shut you should be able to put a new rod in and attach a flap to it. You can either attempt to make it stock and get a new bi-metallic strip as well so it functions automatically or run a cable and control it manually. When working properly it will fully open when cold and fully closed when hot so it would not be hard to manually operate....probably about the same as a manual choke, without being nearly as sensitive to position.

I need a "new" manifold, since the old one was cracked and fixed.
But not in a good way I'm afraid.

Today I will tear apart the starter and prepare for the new starter drive that is coming. Also fix the DAMNED air in my cooling system, and replace the thermostate while it's removed.

Ordered new points and resistor too and will need to set the pointers and fine tune the timing. Always something to do...

But it's fun
