My interchange book sats they share the same case & gears, but can't find anyone to verify. Tranny guy says they are completely different and I need to change the bellhousing too. Anyone done this? or? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 1,418 ODSS Lawman | | ODSS Lawman Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 1,418 | Going from a TT 1/2 ton setup to a 3/4 open drive there is a difference in the rear gears. You will be much slower doing this. What are you trying to accomplish?

All I will need to do is custom the drive shaft. The rearend gear ratio is currently 411 but that could go away by changing rear end. Getting the diagrams or right info on compatibility is my challenge. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 1,418 ODSS Lawman | | ODSS Lawman Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 1,418 | Or you can install a 3:55 gear set from Patricks. That is what I did and can cruise at 65 all day long.

In some cases a short inclosed drive line was used that would bolt to the trans and would be setup for open on the rear. Front propeller shaft

I think that short shaft bolt-on might be the ticket. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | I did design another way to convert one of those transmissions to open drive but it takes a little machining. You can private message my if you want more info.
