Passenger side is next and I am anxious to see if the weatherstripping is going to be an issue on that side- any thoughts? | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 841 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 841 | i installed new weatherstripping on both my 63 and 64 and it was a tighter fit after that, and yes it did compress a little after a while. but it was quite a change from the old weatherstipping. | | | | Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 156 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 156 | Hoggyrubber,
Did the window frames on your doors kinda stick out a bit from being flush with the body until the gaskets compressed a bit over time? with gaskets on my door sticks out farthetr than I think it should... | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 698 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 698 | I had the same problem on my '65 after replacing the hinges and seals. After countless tries and running out of family memebers, freinds, strangers, and anyone else that I could get to help hold the door while I made slight adjustment, I took it to a body shop that specializes in old cars. The owner chuckled and said they changed the foam forumla years ago and the seals were too hard. He claimed only a few companies were using the original formula. For $75 he replaced the seals and adjusted the doors. They look factory fresh.
