Some brands of new buttons can be quite a challenge to install. This allows the buttons to be re-inserted without damaging the pushbutton mechanism. Simply insert the bit (stop) and push the button on hard.
Often there is a way to keep the blade fixed when prying the button off as well but it can be more difficult to find or access.
