I rigged up a toggle switch. I just printed a schematic hopefully I can figure out anybody had this issue? | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 | What kind of charging system do you have? Some alternator/regulator combinations have a capability of feeding back to the ignition system when the switch is turned off. A resistor or diode in the exciter circuit to the alternator usually solves the run-on problem. Jerry

I found them very helpful when I ran into questions. | | | | Joined: Jul 2007 Posts: 328 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2007 Posts: 328 | HotRod Lincoln has nailed it...You need a diode in the correct orientation on that exciter circuit.
Same issue I had ... Using a Painless harness and an MSD ignition. MSD even supplies the diode in their box of goodies to alleviate the problem. I believe if you go to their website and dig, you'll find out the value of the diode to be used. I believe Radio Shack sells the correct ones, too. If I get a chance to check I'll report back on the diode specs. Takes about 5 minutes to insert it and you're good to go.

Put in a diode on the ignition wire to the alternator with the arrow pointing toward the alternator. The Radio Shack number is 276-1661 for a pack of 4, about 5 bucks. They have it listed as a rectifier diode. That will do it. | | | | Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 16 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 16 | Thanks all!!!!
