Got my first big bolt yesterday, a 1952 grain truck with dump bed. Not sure of if it's 1 1/2 or 2 ton. I will research that once im done here. Ok so I got it running today and started playing with things, has no brakes yet but is well chocked in the driveway. I tried to see if the bed would raise and pulled the lever up and heard a grinding noise, figured well I need to push in the clutch. Nothing happens .PTO won't engage.......move on to the next thing.yesterday when it was delivered right in the middle of the driveway( wife loved that) I used the starter to move it over to my side of the driveway. In theory that means the clutch was engaging correct?? So now after trying to operate the bed the clutch won't engage to move the truck . My thoughts are something is stuck from trying to engage PTO and therefore clutch won't engage.Or 2 speed axle isnt working but driveshaft is not turning either so tht would tell me something in trans is wrong. Any advise is greatly appreciated.
While I'm at it, where do I go for big bolt brake parts?
Man his truck is cool, feel free to email pdlcrfrk@ msn.com or if you feel like chatting 303-808-5463 mt time. Thank you!!! Pictures as soon as I can figure out how

probably you disengaged the trans by fiddling the PTO and it's stuck halfway between wink
put the number in here, doesn't seem to have the right vin, are you getting that off the title or the door tag?

Bill

It's a 2 ton. The VW indicates a 6400 series. "C" is for the 3rd month of the year....March. My '52 6400 was built in November, 5,000 units later.

If the starter moves the truck, it is in some gear.

Finally had some time to mess with the truck again. Looks as if the throw out bearing or clutch fingers broke. #%^€>¥£. Oh well .

In order to engage the pto there is going to be either two knobs to pull on the dash or a knob and a lever. If its a knob and a lever, like my c60, then you push the clutch in, pull the knob, let the clutch out, then move the lever towards the dash(that makes the bed go up, pulling the lever to the seat makes it go down.)

You want to know where to go for brake parts? My source has a post right here on this page!! Mr. Marvin Ribbich helped me with wheel-cylinders for my '55 2nd 2-ton. Look under topic:"need help installing auxiliary transmission" I had his phone #,but can't find it.Last time (last April) I talked to him,he had wheel-cylinders,and master-cylinder re-build kits. He knows his Big Bolts, and is a pleasure to deal with. Hope this helps.
