I have a 1950 3600. The brakes are in good shape with no leaks and all the adjusters work well.

I'm trying to get a good adjustment on the parking brake. Looking at the assembly manual, I should start by pulling the rear drums and adjusting an eccentric bolt on the rear shoe here

That might be why I can't get a good adjustment on the cables? Has anyone had any experience that can share some hints and/or tips???

First make sure the brakes are adjusted and in good working order. Next Make sure your cables are not seized. I had that issue the first time I tried to adjust mine.

Thanks. All cables are new and working fine. The brakes are adjusted and working fine. My question... Is there a parking brake cable adjustment on the brake shoe itself that should be made prior to making the adjustment on the cable itself?

There is an excentric adjustment on the lever bolt. Ive never paid much attention to it. It seems you would adjust it so ther is a small amount of free play in the crossbar. It your shoes are adjusted correctly & you adjust the cables to take the slack out, the e-brake should work good.
