I picked up a Dana 60 from a 69' F250 with 3.73's. I have it bolted up using it's spring perches but the diff has a slight up angle to it on the driveshaft end. Will this be a problem? Or do I need to modify the spring perches and get the diff driveline to set level. It's on a 49' 3600.

I copied this from another web site, but driveline angle is what is important here.
Ideally, the operating angles on each end of the driveshaft should be equal to or within 1 degree of each other, have a 3 degree maximum operating angle and have at least 1/2 of a degree continuous operating angle.

It sounds like the truck it came from had the engine/transmission mounted tail-low. Some hi-perf guys will mount their rears a little 'down' from parallel with the trans so that they will get closer to parallel when high torque is applied to the rear and the axle twists slightly upwards. probably best in the long run to re-do the perches so the rear matches the rest of the driveline. Your u-joints will thank you and last much longer.

If I'm not mistaken, I once read that Ford used to offset their diff's more to the side and had a pretty much straight on pinion angle.

All brake hardware installed. I have to work up connecting the parking brake cables but it doesn't look like it will be a problem. The drums are out getting turned and the driveshaft is at the shop getting shortened as well as the rear yoke being swapped to match the Dana 60 pinion yoke and new u joints front and rear. Patience.....patience......eager to put her all back together....

I put a dana 60 in my 53 3600/3/4 ton, and have got vibration in it. cant seem to get it out. one guy looked at it and thinks its pointing up to much, any ideas. other than that had no problem any idea's

I haven't finished it up yet but are you sure your drive shaft is balanced ok?

driveshaft balanced. i did notice that the dana 60 is not centered to the line up hole on the chassis, the rear end is over to the right. will the ujoints compensate ?

Mine is just offset to the right a little too. I'm banking the u joints will compensate. I did modify the spring perches so the diff. driveline has a slight down angle to compensate for wrap up. Just got it bolted on yesterday but I can only drive it around the farm for now as it will be a while before it can hit the roads. I still need to finish up the brake lines and parking break cables.

Well, I have the brakes done and took her up to 40 mile an hour before I ran out of driveway on the farm. No vibrations and runs up nicely. I can definately tell a difference. All in all it looks like this whole thing will be pulled off for under $400. It will be next year most likely before I can take her on the open road unless I make huge strides on the restoration process this summer.
