Last Christmas I took advantage of CPP’s 10% off sale and purchased a rear disk brake kit for my ’65. I let it sit on the shelf in our garage while we finished another project ahead of it. In February I started the project, and as projects sometimes go, it was not a smooth one. First the bearings on both sides were bad and needed to be replace. Once that was behind me I mounted up the brackets that came in the kit from CPP and the calipers wouldn’t fit over the rotors. A little checking and the brackets were too short. I called CPP waited on the phone ½ hour and they confirmed the brackets were ½” too small - they must have mislabeled the parts. The replacement brackets arrived and everything bolted up fine. But then I couldn’t get the calipers to bleed. Remover the MC twice and bench bled it, tripled checked the proportioning valve and still no matter what I couldn’t get fluid to the back. Finally after all family members and friends wouldn’t pump any more; I took it up to the local Sears shop to be power bled. They worked on it for a day and said no good, it must be a leak in the lines somewhere. So I replaced ALL the lines. Still nothing. Then finally I discovered the seals at the piston on the caliper were leaking. I called CPP and they said they would replace them. On 3/29 they issued an RMA for the defective calipers (both sides leaked). Yesterday I come home to a next day air package from them. After a month and a half they have finally got around to them and sent them back. Why they choose next day air is beyond me. But when I opened the package and looked at the packing slip they charged me $212 for the freight. I called and complained and they said that the parts have to be discovered to be defective in 10 days other wise I’m responsible for the freight. I said I never authorized next day air shipping and besides it doesn’t make sense to get charged freight on replacement of a defective item plus a $40 fee to inspect them. Needless to say I’m not happy. I’ll be contacting my credit card company to dispute the charges. It doesn’t seem right that they still have my cc information from when I purchased them and later add charges. _________________________

I've never dealt with them myself because I've read too many similar stories from other customers. They seem to make good products, but have earned a terrible reputation for customer service.
If I ever have need for the types of products they sell I'll go to Early Classic instead. I've never a read a bad review about their products or customer interface. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2012 Posts: 35 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2012 Posts: 35 | Man oh man that bites big time & isn't the way a company keeps customers regardless of what their policy may be especially since they already knew that had sent you the wrong parts in the first place. I know it seems easier to just order a complete kit so you don't have to(supposedly)hunt down those extra parts. BUT this is one reason why anytime I have done a disc brake swap I buy ONLY the brackets & bearing sleeves from the manufacturer. Much easier to return those wear items(calipers, pads, hoses & etc) to my local parts store then having to wait for the Mailman, UPS or Fedex to show up. Plus I don't have to worry about IF they get lost in transect to & from the company.

The communication systems of today can make a bad reputation spread like wildfire. Just think about the potential business they can/will lose from this forum alone. Your complaints seem very legitimate!
If they do the right thing and make it all better, of course, you should let people know that too, just to be fair. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2012 Posts: 35 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2012 Posts: 35 | CPPJEFF works for CPP and is a member over on The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck forum and gave out this number, Jeff 888-522-8303 ext 118. I'd call him and complain & see what may happen w/your problem & let him know about this post. Sounds like he may want to do some damage control.

CPP took care of a brake kit problem after 2 years of laying around in my shop. That just happened and they said nothing about 10 days and all that. If it's defective it's defective. Disputing the credit card sale creates an adversarial relationship. They are not in business to screw us. You will get the shipping refund and probably everything else if you maintain a reasonable attitude, I have found. They did, in fact, take care of your first problem ASAP. (defective part you could say)
