Anyone know of a place selling antennas?

He has others available at higher prices. It looked pretty good in the hole in my cowl that a previous owner had cut (on the passenger side instead of the correct location on the drivers side.) At least it looked good until I raised the hood. The hood bent it back. The PO had drilled it too close to the hood opening.

Mine is stainless and made of very thin metal but it does the job. Tim is correct. Cable, plug, and bracket come with the antenna. The base pivots to allow it to mount on an angled surface.
If the hole is already in your cowl, loosely mount the antenna and slowly raise the hood before locking it in place. The previous owner may have screwed up the location. If you are going to cut the hole, a pattern for the location is in '54 Truck Accessories Manual. May be one available for your truck, too. As Tim noted, the location of the hole is critical.

There was an antenna in there when I got the truck in 1973. Seems to me that the hood did touch the antenna when it was open, but I'll check tomorrow. There is a 6 volt AM radio (VW) in the truck now, but it hasn't worked in many years. I have a 12 V. AM/FM radio of the same size that I thought I might try. I'm also working on a way to get 12V. More on that later.
