I got a preview last week of the carpet and was very pleased with how it looks and the quality of the work. I'll post some pics.

Also shaved the bumper & reworked the grille. I was going to have them chromed but could buy new ones for a third of the cost. Decided I'll probably go with a mono paint.

I fabricated my left and right kick panels from 3/16" plywood. Looking good John. Is that a flat paint or primer? Thanks Jim, the whole truck is satin black,I will get a pro paint job as and when funds allow but this will have to do meantime,I NEED to get this old crate on the road! I'm still shopping around for a decent upholsterer to do the bench seat though. 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. I borrowed another set of jack stands from a friend and pulled the 3rd member out of my 59 Apache. when I pulled the axles out I realized my bearings were shot. I ordered bearings, seals, & gaskets from Classic Parts. Had to ride my motorcycle all week but finally got to start putting it back together about 5:00 this evening. I was kind of nervous about it because I had never even took a differential cover off before but it went back together pretty easy. I drove it to town to haul off trash and then went to Sonic for 1/2 price milkshakes. Truck has not been so quiet going down the road since I got it. When I got home tonight I looked under it and it was not leaking any grease at all. I was proud. Sunday will be the test when I have to go to my folks for Mother's Day. They live about 35 miles away. I think I have it fixed though. I am keeping my fingers crossed just the same. Gene

I realise it's not a video, but I already tried a small burnoutJust to make sure my weld strength was OK....... It got the curtains twitching for sure! Thanks Robert,it's a 20 footer job and I used rattle cans, the plan was to cover the primer, sadly I didn't use epoxy and I was getting surface rust showing due to a really damp winter. Turned out better than I thought, although there are a few lumps and bumps to address as well. I will have it down in Blanco this weekend with 200+ other gearheads. I'm not confident enough to drive it the 250 miles so I'll U-Hall it. I have 115 miles on it now and still have a few kinks to work-out yet. Interior

It's not the weight of the load, that breaks your back. It's how you carry it.

Turning the fan I was able to watch all the valves working and only felt a slight spot where the cylinders had been sitting. I'm hoping there won't be any issues there. I had put 2 oz of MMO in each cylinder back in January to let it soak.
I also was able to drain all the old antifreeze. I still need to flush it good. | | | | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 130 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 130 | Mounted an electric fan from a 94 Buick Century in my 53 1/2T. Fit like it was made to be there. Made the brackets out of kine bar to bolt to the rad. support frame. Just sits over my pump pulley perfectly. Plenty of clearance for motor movement. The fan covers the entire radiator. I needed a 30" pipe on my breaker bar to remove the shackle nuts. I thought I was going to twist the truck off the jack stands!
I suppose I missed my chance to buy a good impact wrench! Dang.
I'll be bringing the axle to a machine shop to remove the king pin lock bolts and the king pins if necessary. I couldn't get the bolts to budge with a 3/4" brass drift punch and hammer.

Nice Job Hard to believe you started this thread 3 1/2 years ago and now the real fun begins. I found there is a hard to describe feeling when its done and a driver. I kind of miss the big project aspect a little. I knew someone would ask for the pics Todd. I didn't add pics because I wanted to get the new wheels and the bedrails on first. Below is a pic I took at the show. My new wheels should be in sometime next week and I should have them painted, bolted on and a picture taken sometime in early June. Oh, and she's a BLAST to drive. MY 51
