I've aquired several 6 volt sealed beam headlight bulbs from my dad and i was wondering if someone knows if there was a certain brand that chevy used in the factory? also wondering what the# 2 at top of light is? I have tung sol, westinghouse,GE, autolight,guide with a T3in diamond in center of bulb, I once heard that early bulbs did not have nipples any help is appreciated

My '48 Chevy 1/2 ton has Guide black-metal backed headlamps...no nipples. While this set is not original to the truck, I believe that these were what came out of the factory.

I remember reading about when the alignment bumps came out, but don't remember the year. Probably late 40s, early 50s. Google it. I do remember T3 headlights as factory in the early 60s.

Ok some other forums said 70's 80's for sure had alignment(aiming)bumps but could'nt find exact year, so I'm thinking my 41 should'nt does anyone know if Guide was correct for sure??

I remember when the alignment bumps came out. It was in the mid 50,s. I still have a Hoppy alignment kit.

"Guide" is the correct OEM.

Ok so I thought I had a set of guide bulbs but I dont does anyone have a extra set of 6volt they want to sell?

I have a few 6V bulbs in a box, I'll take a look and see what I got. Posting here so you can PM me later if I forget.

I have one GUIDE light. This is a used bulb and has no alignment nubs, the back is black and it has a rubber around the rim. All the bulbs I saved were tested three years ago.

I also have a pair of matching GE 5040s bulbs, with the alignment nubs.

I remember reading a good article about the T3 6 volt headlights. Came across quite a few listings for NOS AC, Guide and a few more. Just remember that some of these lights might be still boxed but might be over 60 years old, if I remember correctly the electrical prongs were sealed in with shellac and the first time you power them up..Pooof..Might be good for show display but I would change them out for daily driving.
