there was no "original" turn signal for a '46 Chevy, but that is an era appropriate 3rd party [Montgomery Wards] unit

I don't believe GM offered signals as an option until the mid-late AD years, and then it would have looked very similar .... nothing wrong with that one if you've got it or can grab it at a reasonable price

1954 was the first year for a GM factory installed optional (RPO) turn signal set.

In earlier Advance-Design years (at least back to 1951), GM accessory turn-signal sets were available.

There is no accessory or optional turn-signal set in the 1946/47/49/50 USA Truck Data Book.

A friend told me that the correct turn signal kit would be made by Guide, did Guide make a turn signal kit for a 46 chevy truck?

if you're attempting to please show judges, any signal setup will be a non-factory addition .... Guide was a 3rd party supplier that produced signal assemblies, Signal-Stat was probably as common, and they were all basically the same, none would be "correct" as none were from GM directly .... the reason the one you picture indicates for 41 Chev is because the self canceling wheel fits the Chev steering wheel/column configuration, mostly a marketing thing, it could have fit other years and makes just as well, and it may have been a "re-branded" Guide or Signal-Stat unit

Here is a photo of a turn-signal switch on Pat Sheridan's 41-46 Chevrolet truck that is displayed on his 1946 Chevy Truck
Optional Equipment and Accessories
page. Send him an email message for information/documentation (Stovebolt name: Sheridan)?

I do not see a turn-signal unit in the 1941 or 1946 Truck Data Book but it still might have been available - maybe Pat has an accessory parts list?

Brad's '41 to '46 Chevies website is not working - he might also have documentation/information.

Everybody is correct in that turn signals were not available for the 41-46 trucks. I did put signals on mine but it was for safety purposes. Typically Turn signals and seatbelts added will not detract from judging. I chose the signals that i did because it seemed to look the best in that era truck.

What model number turn signal is that installed on your truck? Is it made by Guide?
