Hello all,
I have posted pics of my 55'second carryall in the welcome center with my introduction.
I am curious if anyone has compiled a comprehensive list as to the factory colors of individual parts? I have searched and I have seen the different colors available overall, but I am searching for something a little deeper. I know most guys go with the POR15 for the frame, what about the springs, front end, rear end, motor, etc?
As for the factory available colors, with no defined SN for colors, I guess any factory color combination is acceptable for a restoration? Any input will be much appreciated.

does anyone have any input at all? Driveline colors, tranny colors, inner fenders? You get the idea.

frame might have been painted chassis [low gloss] black - "driveline" [everything behind bellhouse] generally not painted, nor were the springs or axles .... inner fenders satin black .... engine [usually incl bellhouse] painted a color to identify it, depending on year, not sure on GMC, but light truck Chevs were some variation of gray .... engine 'bolt on' items [genny, air cleaner, fan, etc] gloss or satin black, with some [starter] possibly 'natural' [see '59 car example here] .... opinions vary, there is no definitive list .... and it doesn't matter that its a 'burb, same as pickups under the skin, might check the Paint and Body forum or look around oldGMCtrucks.com

bookmark it, add to favorites - or highlight/copy what you want and paste it into notepad to save as a text file to which you can add all the other opinions you find

Lostin55, I got your PM. Sorry for the delay in answering. My Suburban is not stock. It has a 283/Th350 and open drive. The colors including the interior are 2 shades of green and a light tan color that came from NAPA. I used Farm and Fleet black tractor paint on the frame and running gear.

Spend a couple hours in here.
http://www.1955gmc.com/

Dave's got a nice site with lots of Factory info and original color advertising. I think you'll get a few ideas. smile

Oldgmctrucks.com, as mentioned earlier, has Factory paint specifications and you can extrapolate some of that info for your year of truck.
