I have started working on getting the front clip on my 57 5700 LCF ready for paint and I found something odd. The headlight bezels are cast pot metal. I have never seen them like this. Usually they are stamped sheet metal. There is a part number cast into the back....5948489. Are they like this on all the bigger Task Force trucks or is this another "LCF" only thing?

I've got a pile of painted 55-7 bezels - they're all cast, don't know if I've ever seen one stamped steel, but maybe the chrome ones were?

Bill is right, all of the original 55-57 Headlight Trim Rings are cast pot metal (chromed or painted).

I did buy a set of NOS Headlight assemblies (Bucket, T-3 Headlight and Trim Rings) in the original Chevrolet box and the trim rings are Chrome over plastic. I suspect they are replacement parts made in the late 60's.

wow Mike, never heard of plastic ones before, those be collector items but yes, I looked at a stack today and there's a couple that are painted over chrome, and still cast .... and yes, the 58/9 doubles I have are all stamped steel
