It's called a toe board or floor toe board. The originals were metal. It's not unusual to see wood replacements done by owners as a "field repair". Mine has a floorboard replaced with plywood and it works just fine. It's possible to find a NOS metal toe board. I think Obsolete Chevy still has them. It's hard for me to tell from some of your photos but you may need more than just the toe board.

Ahh dont think so Harold as the wood was in my burb and three trucks I have had. I think it is a factory wood.Yes there is a tin piece that goes over top that has the hi/low beam swithch. But I am pretty confident that the 42/46 chevys all need this wood toeboard If there is a metal replacement I would like to see picks of it. checked obsolete chevy and this is all they have.thx den

Exactly what do you have..pickup, panel or?? Maybe that is a Canadian thing?? Trucks built there often have slight differences from U.S. versions. My '40 has no wood that I have found, other than blocks under the bed.

Hi I have a 46 panel and 2 46 pickups and they all have the wood.like in the picks posted the one pick is pretty clear and the other is a pick from the bottom looking up. They seem to just be some kind of wood spacers if yours is stricktly metal I would like to see some picks mayby I can adapt mine.

I think you may be talking about the cab mounting blocks that fit between the cab & the frame. I think many of the parts suppliers; Jim Carter, Chevs of the 40s, etc have them. They used these on the '40's trucks.
