I am hoping someone can tell me exactly what year and model. I posted in the Welcome forum also but have yet to get any replies.
I saw the truck while flying with a freind. Hiked into where it is and was excited with what I found, so I contacted the property owner and he told me if I could get it out I could have it.
Cut trees and made a trail to get the backhoe into it. Took a few days but I think the effort will pay off. I was originally looking for old tin to build a hotrod, but after seeing how unique it was, I have now decided to get it going as is.
Its comming home this weekend, wish me lots of luck.

thats what I was thinking after looking at many posts and pics. When I get it home in a couple days I will try and get the tag cleaned up, and find some #s

Great Find! Looks to be a Ernest Holmes model 485 Wrecker unit, with Factory Holmes Service Body. The model 485's were built from Jan. 1931, until June 1935, with only 139 units built. There was a model 490 built from March 1934, until April 1949, but they had webbed booms.

That is a cool looking wrecker. Looks to be a later 1936 model. It will be worth all the work it took to get it out it's resting place. You should find plenty of helpful information on Stovebolt. Good luck and enjoy.
