Just wondering if anyone can tell me if this is correct or not. A friend of mine is going to replace the 216 in his '49 1 ton with a 235 and I told him I thought he needed to change the bell housing, too.

However, if you have a 1953 or earlier truck, you want to use the 1953 and earlier truck clutch housing (rear motor mounts are different). 1954 and later trucks use the later-style truck clutch housing.
Other people might know what year car and truck clutch housings interchange.
You should also use a 6v or 12v flywheel that matches your electrical system (that matches your starter 6v or 12v). Then, choose a clutch assembly that matches the year/clutch-size of the flywheel. Buy the clutch-assembly parts together because there are different sizes (lengths) of throwout bearings. A pilot bushing/bearing usually comes in the assembly-kit - use it.
