I would like to know what lubricant to use in a 1950 3100 pick-up steering gear box? Mine seems a bit low.

Thank you all for the replies. As always, the people on this site are very helpful and always willing to give great advice. I can't wait to get my project finished and show up driving it to some of the east coast events!

I made my own lubricant for the steering box by mixing 140 weight gear oil with general purpose grease. In the end, the mixture was self leveling (flowable) at room temperature.

Penrite lubricants makes a steering box lube, it is a 500w and is self leveling. About $16.00 per bottle, you probably need 2 bottles. I have used corn head grease but I prefer the Penrite product. Steering box is as dry as a bone on the outside.
