What thread is on the back of the factory AD oil pressure gauge?? I have a whole mess of fittings here and none of them fit. How does this work?

you need the double compression fitting. It fits the oil gauge and you need one at the engine block. Here is the link to the part you need. double compression fitting

Had a whole bunch of fittings on mine when I bought it too. The oil guage thread size is 1/16" NPS. It has 27 threads per inch, the same as an NPT thread, but the oil guage boss is a straight rather than taper thread.

Stuart.

Interesting that the weblinks show a 5/16" by 24 thread. I used an optical comparator on my guage thread, it definitely pitched at 27 TPI. 1/16 NPS is near 5/16" OD and a 5/16 UNF 24 TPI nut probably wouldn't bind over such a short distance of thread whichever is actually on the oil gauge.

I just put my gauge on the threads of an original double compression fitting and it is #24 thread.

The nose of the fitting crushes around the tubing as it's tightened.

I just screw the fitting into the oil gauge by hand, then slip the oil line tube into it until it stops. Then I tighten the compression nut making sure the oil line does not move while tightening.

Thought mine didn't move, guess I was run. Knew I was wrong when after the engine was running I noticed a 1/2 cup of oil on the ground under the runningboard and in the cab - what a mess! Removed the Guage and re inserted the tube, made a mark on the tube this time and kept a close eye on it while I tightened the nut...no problems now
