Did you clean out the whole fuel system, tank to carb? It sounds like you have some contamination in there. You might want to install a fuel filter in front of the fuel pump. I just found it a little odd, i literally just took the truck off of jack stands and everything was fine while it was up. went to start the truck, out of gas, dump a jerrycan in, it starts right up, and the gas is gas colour. after the drive i pop the hood and it looks like milk... I've googled what can cause this they say:
Water - but it will most likely not mix
OIl - apparently back then people would dump a quart of some sort of oil in after each fill
Sugar - but then the engine wouldn't run

tank?
If so, the Corn-a-hol could be starting to work its magic and that liner material is sliding off into the fuel ..... Might be prudent to drop the tank and do a serious
physical inspection.

I took the sending unit out and took a look with a light and mirror inside the tank, its all milky. But I believe that the spring in your fuel filter is upside down. The fat end sits on the glass bowl. The skinny end presses against the bottom of the filter element. 1952 Durex Moraine sales book. As for the tank, i pressure washed it for a good hour or so....the gunk.white slime coming out was disgusting. i dumped about 7L of tank cleaner my shop teacher bought me, hopefully a couple hours sitting, soaking, then shaking..repeat will clean things up further | | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 | If your cleaner doesn't get all the goo out, and it is old tank liner, you might try some MEK.
