one else fitted a new harness to my 49 stepside before i owned it, the temp gauge dosnt work at all, it as a feed and a wire to sensor ,earthing sensor side does nothing. The fuel gauge goes to full with out the sender wire conected, earthing the sender side does nothing, there is a feed wire and sender wire only. iv read some bits about link wires or resisters across or earthing them? could someone explain in simple terms what i should have . many thanks | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy wak1963, welcome, if earthing (grounding) does nothing to either gauge, then you either have an open between the sender wire and the gauge or an open in the gauge itself, hope that helps | | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 554 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 554 | The temperature gauge has no electrical connection at all. What you call a sensor is a fluid filled bulb that reacts to changes in temperature. If that bulb or the line leading to the gauge has been compromised the gas would have leaked out and it won't work. There can be other reasons for it not to work too but it will require heat to show an increase.
You will really be better off using the search function for the gas gauge problem. There is lots of trouble shooting advice that should be easy to find.

The sensor is Ohm resistant. I'm looking for a sensor that is compatiable with the guage.
