how tough is it to put in a back window in a 48 gmc 1/2 ton...already got the rubber in...do you need more than one person

It's relatively easy to do it by yourself. I just finished mine yesterday. The biggest issue and concern I had was getting the glass into the rubber channel. I used masking tape to hold it into place until I got it secured. I used a plastic tool with the rounded end like the one jockbolter50 showed in his pictures to get the rubber spline worked into the groove to lock everything in place. I would not recommend using any metal tool to do this as it is likely going to eventually slip and you wouldn't want to scratch your paint or the glass. I did not have the spreader tool like he also showed that is similar to the one shown in the shop manual. Another important thing is to use plenty of rubber lubricant. Soapy water would probably work, but I used a product I got at NAPA called RuGLYDE. I recommend lubricating a few inches at a time and just go slowly.

Get the lock strip tool for sure, makes the job a whole lot easier believe me. Just use a lot of soapy water in a spray bottle and take your time. And you can do the install by yourself. But if this is your first time I would get a helper at least to help you set the glass in. You don't need any help putting the lock strip in place if your using the lock strip tool. I picked my lock strip tool off Ebay for about 12 bucks, well worth the money. And one more thing, get a lock strip tool with a screw driver type handle.

This rear window seal lock-bead setting tool and these nylon tools have been quite useful when working with seals and glass.
