The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk 1939 vs 40 vs 41 frame/chassis - same?

I know the wheelbase for the 39 and 40 is shorter than the 41-46, but are the frame rails the same with the suspension placed differently?

As the 40-46 used the same bed, fenders, and running boards, I would think that the rear end would actually be located the same for these years, but perhaps the front is where the difference is.

I have a friend who has a 46 and just acquired what he was told is a 40 frame with no suspension. He says they look and measure identical. If so, how is the wheelbase different?

It could be in what is known as the BBC..(Bumper to Back of Cab) dimension a little different. Have your friend check that and the CA (cab to axle) dimensions.

I think I remember reading that the cab floor is longer starting in '41. Somebody will be along with the dimensions. Good luck!
