My family owns 5 isuzu trooper and well the motors are in my opinion some of the best on the market. Some of them are running 200,000 miles and the most expensive repair being the starter but the trouble lies in the automatic transmission. At about 150,000 miles the transmission begins to slip when it comes to high gear. It will shift into 4th under accel but will downshift to 3rd when you start to cruise. This will continue to 180,000 miles where it will stop shifting peridically. Now they have been checked but nothing has been found. Is there a cheap fix like this lucus i have heard about or something more expensive.

Two although I am a person tradition and haven't and won't replace my drive drain with something more modern if I ever did upgrade it would be with this motor at least. For it will last you for most of your life if not more with maybe one rebuild. And if I remember correct the motor is american made. | | |

If not, that is why you are having problems. I do think that 180,000 miles is pretty good for an automatic to last as a daily driver though!!

All I want to know is this a common thing for high mileage transmissions and how to fix it. A transmission is a transmission. Who cares where it is from.
Also may I remind you that Isuzu is owned by Chevy. | | |
